A New Chapter for the Mission Hall

Fantastic News!

The Mission Heritage Centre Trust has now become the new owner of the Mission which has been gifted to the Trust from the Church of England.

The next stage is to provide a water supply to service the building and a temporary toilet facility in order to start using the building as early as possible.

The real challenge now is to apply for and gain grant funding to extend and improve the building to be fit for purpose to meet the approved charitable objectives of the Trust which are :-

To provide a Mission Heritage Centre at Sunderland Point by acquiring, extending and refurbishing the existing Mission church for the benefit of the community and the visiting public.

To promote and provide at the centre supplementary education and inspiration for young people, the community and the visiting public by providing space and facilities at the Centre for meetings and lectures.

To provide and manage a program of activities at the Centre to advance the Arts,Culture,Heritage and celebrate local traditions for the community and the visiting public.

To preserve, improve and sustain the unique and special environment of Sunderland Point by education, community action and environmental projects in cooperation with present landowners for the benefit of the community and the visiting public.

The Mission building has also been listed Grade II which makes it more interesting and attractive to visitors and also strengthens our future applications for grant funding.

The Trust has now reached the position were our vision can now become a reality.
